Hi, I’m Dave Straube and glad you’ve found my book. I’d love to tell you I’m a whiz-bang financial advisor like those described in the book, but the truth is that I’m a software programmer by trade. So what makes me qualified to write about money? If you’ve read the book you know that it chronicles financial discussions between twenty-something Larry and his retired uncle Roger. Well, I used to be like Larry and made many of the mistakes he did. More, actually. Like the time my wife and I bought two cars in one week. Or the time we bought a house without ever stepping foot inside it or getting an inspection. Trust me, I’ve paid dumb tax much too often. The good news is that experience is the best teacher of all. I’ve learned from my mistakes and evolved into someone like Roger. With my own kids getting ready to set out into the world it seemed like a good time to record what I’ve learned. My hope is that you find the book entertaining, informative, and that it prevents you from making the same mistakes that I did. Do me one better, please.
